If you have extra lemons, you can store them in the fridge for months covered with water in a sealed container. Just pull one out when you need it, and it will be as fresh as when you put it in.



Roses, that is! Hydrate your bare-root roses from your local garden center for half a day before planting them. A two-foot wide hole will allow you to spread out the roots. Give them six hours of sun a day, and you will enjoy their blooms all summer long!


Pansies are a winter favorite in many areas. To keep them perky through spring, pinch off old blossoms and water with a diluted fertilizer solution every few weeks. The same works with the closely related Johnny jump-ups!


To enjoy iced tea in a spill-proof container, freeze a half-empty water bottle on its side. Then add tea, and as the ice melts, enjoy your frosty tea all day long! This works with fruit juices and sodas as well!


Dingy glass can be renewed by soaking in water with denture tabs. Cloudy (or thrifted) glass will take on a new sparkle with this simple hack. Scrub with a nylon scrubbing pad for extra sparkle!
