If you have an irrigation system in your yard or garden, now's the time to winterize it. Turn off the controller AND the water at the source (just not for the entire house). If you have a drain for your system, it's a good idea to open that, too. Winter, we're ready for you!

Here's a good way to know which wall switch controls what: color code them. Example: gray for fans, black for garbage disposal. Switch it up with your own colors. Just a dot of color on the tip of the switch, or color the entire thing. Nail polish works well for this!

Sort of! If you have spots of bare soil, clear out any weeds then mulch that spot to give the grass a chance to grow in next spring weed free! You can even add a little grass seed. It will germinate over the winter season and surprise you come next April!

It's fall (if no one noticed), so vegetable soup is on the menu. Sweet potatoes, squash, even kale. Any seasonal vegetables will do. If you want, start with a vegetable broth first. Cook and puree (or leave it chunky!). You will enjoy the warmth of fall flavor in every spoonful!

You know those self-stick plastic wall hangers? Place one upside down on the outside of your trash can and loop the tie on your trash bag around it. It will never "crash" into your trash can again! (This also works on smaller trash cans for using plastic shopping bags with handles!)
