When cruising north (Alaska, perhaps) this summer, be prepared for long days. The sun is likely to rise about 4 am and set after 10 pm. Take your time and don't burn through your energy before lunch! Take a hour to soak up the northern sun and you will come away refreshed and ready to start again!

Disney parks tend to stay open later in the summer season. Be sure to plan for higher heat and rain in June. Extra water bottles are a plus! Fold up plastic rain hoodies are small enough to carry in any pocket. An extra will come in handy if someone loses theirs.

Make room for the fun stuff with your children. The bathroom ... no one ever died of soap scum. Ride the bike, visit the park, cook that batch of cookies. If you feel you can't do it well, remember that it's doing it that counts. Your child wants time with you, not the cookies, burned or not. So, put away the cleaner and enjoy an hour or two with your child. Your memories will last longer than a clean bathroom ever can!

With all chances of frost gone, it's time to pull out those summer baskets, tubs, and troughs. I like Miracle Gro added to the soil for a healthy plant all summer long! Happy growing!

You need space, too. Children can intrude on that, and your relationship with your spouse and friends can suffer. Don't be afraid to call on family members or hire a babysitter. When you're doing well, your relationship with your child will reflect that.
