Early January sunsets can upset our normal sleep schedules, leaving us irritable, anxious, or worried. Three hours before bedtime, cut back on caffeine, excess liquids, and heavy foods. You will sleep better and feel more refreshed the next morning. Brighter days are on the way!

Natural light increases serotonin in the brain, and that can improve your mood. So, take advantage of the available sunlight, and YOU WILL FEEL BETTER. If it's too cold to be outside, a sunny window will do almost as well. Here's to a happier you!

It doesn't have to be everything on your list. If you can cross off ONE thing, you will lift your spirits and feel a sense of accomplishment. Try the easiest thing for a quick uplift. Treat yourself to a coffee or a cookie and dive into number two. Success will soon be yours!

Even if it's cold, drive with your sunroof open for a while. Embrace the brisk air. If you don't have a sunroof, sit outside with a hot drink, or take a walk by the lake or in the park. Dress warmly, and you'll feel like a new person when you're finished. Caution: You might even want to do it again! Have fun on this last day of 2023!

It sounds fake, but putting on your best face can help you get through the after-Christmas blahs. If you smile and sound cheery, your enthusiasm will spread, and your days really will feel brighter.
