How about those weeds? They will try to overtake your garden during August. Try to pluck them before they go to seed to prevent them from wreacking havoc on your plantings in the spring. Seeds can overwinter and pop up even without the parent plant still around.

August is your go-to month to divide your perennials for next year. Hosta, oriental poppy, daylily, or irises. Use a spade to lift the plant to disturb the root ball as little as possible. Next year? New life will greet you from a new section of your garden!

The warmth of summer is a great time to be outdoors. Pack a picnic for the weekend. Make the local park your destination or head out of town. The point is to enjoy the sunshine while summer is with us!

Not only your pots, but plants in the ground can suffer from August's heat. If you have to be away for an extended period, type up instuctions to your yard sitter so your outdoor plants survive to welcome you home.

Cleaning tile grout can be backbreaking. Reseal it with a commercial sealer (like CoverTec or Black Diamond) to keep your freshly scrubbed grout clean for months at a time! Perfect bathroom every time you shower!
