Have a frequent meal you make? Pasta, anyone? Or maybe you like beef-based dishes. For pasta, measure out your sauce in ice cube trays and freeze. Do the same with chopped rosemary in olive oil. Then just toss in a cube (or two) during cooking. Tasty! For beef dishes, divvy a large container of meat into smaller sections (yes, ice cube trays again) and toss as many as you need into your pot. Perfection achieved!

You know you want to get away! If you've got even a hundred dollars, you can likely fly somewhere for the day. It may be only to the next state, but fly in early, get an Uber to a local destination, and catch the return flight in the evening! Woo-hoo! You'll feel like a well-traveled girl or guy! And you didn't even have to check a bag!

Here's a tip for staying on your January diet: Eat some carbs, an iced cupcake or another carb-filled delight. Once a week and you'll be fine. A hint, don't bring a box home. Buy one when you're out and enjoy it on the go. Then you won't be tempted for a second when that late-night craving comes to call!

Kumquats may not be the biggest fruits at the market, but you can't beat them for flavor! From desserts to main dishes, the sour tang will treat your tongue. You want this orange fruit to still have a few leaves attached. In the crisper, they can last up to two weeks. Kumquats, the rockin' fruits!

Keep a drawer stocked with a few wrapped "hostess" gifts to give when you attend a party. Choose a tin of specialty tea, a bar of exotic soap, or a pump of aromatic lotion. Buy them when they are on sale, not when you're on the way to the party. Dollars saved and stress kicked out the door!
