Spring will soon bring fresh vegetables from your garden to your kitchen. Sprinkle in a bit of salt when you wash your vegetables to draw out any insects. This works with fresh produce from the store, also.



Anyone with kids will find used (or new and forgotten) gum in a pocket or two. Put the clothing in the freeer, and the gum will release easily, ready for the washing machine.


Empty soda bottles make great hot water bottles. Fill one with hot tap water, wrap in a towel, and you are all set for a few hours. Refill as necessary.


But not in your garden if you plant peppermint in your flowerbeds. Try a bit of peppermint oil on a piece of cloth if you suspect mice in your attice or basement. If you want to go commercial, you can pick up prepared sprays at your local home and garden store.
